To Be Hip, Gifted and Black: The Future of the Black Creative Class

BOSS and XHIBIT P have teamed up to present a dynamic panel on one of the most underestimated, yet most influential social groups of our time: The Black Creative Class. The individuals who make up this multifaceted group break conventional barriers on the daily through various ...means of imagination, innovation, and inspiration. They challenge the status-quo and consequently bring about novel ideas and products, which in turn sparks social movements on multiple levels. Yet, while it may take a nation of millions to hold us back, we must take a minute to determine, preserve and ensure the future of our creative movements.

Please join us for a panel discussion and performance by hip-hop artist MELO-X!!

Panelists include:

Kyla Marshell (Award Winning Writer, Poet)
Rog Walker (Photographer)
Melo-X (Music Producer, DJ, Emcee)

During the Panel will will discuss:

- Navigating processes of self-identity: identifying as black and an artist and the conflict that may or may not arise
- How to deal with a lack of support and understanding of creative passions from friends and family
- The importance of collaboration amongst creative peers
- The art of the balancing your 9-5 with your 5-9
- How to make a living off of your creativity and maintain self-employment (and sanity)
- How to instigate and promote social change while remaining fly, creative and unique
- How to stay in your lane despite swagger-jackers
- How to overcome roadblocks and push your creativity to the next level
