THE VOTE: Free or Pay

So Many people Said my Last Mixtape was More like an Album. And They would have Happily Spent some Change on it.

Since im Working on my Next Album/ EP. I was stuck on the Idea of Giving it Away for Free or Having my Fans Pay for it. Cause at the end of the Day this is my Life and my Music. Music is how I Survive. But I Also love the Idea of Free Music.

For the Whole day I want to hear you guys Thoughts.

And for the Record I will no longer be Putting out Mixtapes for the Rest of my Career. Its all about the ALBUMS NOW

my next Solo Project is called:

Malcolm MeLo Mustafa X
Now: The Present Day Experience

And I want your thoughts on me Selling this through I tunes, Amazon, etc or giving it Away for Free.

Leave your Comments here please!!!!!

Selling in todays market can be iffy. If you do, make it at a low cost. Or u can offer different package deals....

Sell it and give it away for free. Give a low quality version away for free (minus a couple songs maybe) and sell the full/high quality version with all songs and maybe a bonus or two... Just a thought...

You could have a free day or hand em out at events. Aside from that, make it something lucrative. You love music and you should be paid to do it. You're music doesn't suck and if people will pay for ______(fill blank)_____'s gay ass ringtones and wack albums, they should pay for yours.

You obviously care enough about us(the fans)... To have this MASS debate about sellin or not sellin, lol. Who does that?... So we should care enough to fork up and support u!

As a music journalist, I'm used to pretty much getting all the music I want for free from the artists. The idea of paying for music is kind of lost for me 90% of the time. At least in digital form.

I often pick up 12" or LPs by up and coming artists. Because there's more to it than the music. You get multi-sensory experience. But a digital album doesn't really seem worth it when you can find a .rar of the album with about 30 seconds of searching.

Like everyone said, including additional content that can't be gotten for free. You could do a radiohead/niggy tardust, and offer it for free and for pay. You're going to get some people checking it out for the first time because its free. And your devoted fans will support you, especially if your asking them to, not just expecting them to.

Not as eloquant as the first time i typed this, but oh well. get's the point across.

Who cares honestly. At the end of the day, it's going to be lurking on the net for free anyways.. might as well make it free and just eat off of doing shows.
